Anyone know anything about Gainsco?

I have a friend in florida who is considering sighning up with a company called Gainsco. I have never heard of them, they are supposedly a non standard insurance wholesaler that specializes in higher risk clients.
Any clue?

Do you know if the might be decent to work for? Do they have a good reputation? He said their offer sounded good but does not want to sign up if they are fly by night.
