Insurance Carriers are really not to blame for complaints, it's the insurance agent's responsibility to relay the benefits to the customer. If an agent doesn't tell their client that there's a 6 month waiting period for preventative services with the Core Med and a woman goes in for a OB exam the week after getting the policy there's probably going to be a complaint.
 
I would assume that many of those complaints are related to the Right Start, and possibly CoreMed plans. Perhaps even the HSA Saver, although everybody seems to have a stripped-down HSA these days.

Agreed. Even if you tell the client verbally. Clients most likely forget, so when f2f I circle the plan and make sure to point out those waiting periods.

but Time is a major writer of STM. Good chance many complaints stemmed from STM as well.

Who the heck is Community with 24% market share? Med Mutual is a BX company, right? They have another 11%. That is one third of the market covered by 2 carriers.

Looks like a lot of the carriers are in the senior (Medicare) market.
 
I have been thinking about this complaint ratio thing for a little while. What drives a complaint ratio?

Many people on this forum speak that Mega has limited and bad plans, yet their complaint ratios in the few states that I have looked at are right in line with most carriers?

I have never sold or seen a Mega policy.

So what does drive complaints to the insurance commissioner?

In MI, John Alden and Time were no different than the rest of the pack.
