Any suggestions were to start looking for life insurance for a person who had bariatric surgery five months ago?

Add half the weight loss back to her current weight. Then if she fits quote Standard. Only 5 months is not very long.

Then it goes to the type coverage. Example: Prudential, Banner and AIG to start.
