Best Value Policy Out There???/

UHL just ordered medical records, customer expense, on a simple issue case. This after sitting on the file for 8 days, and first requesting a copy of her DL because they couldn't reconcile her birth date with her SS#. Lol UHL

Yes, and they also say that the vast majority of those will be declined, which is why they won't pay for it. They are giving the insured and the agent one last chance to get it approved if they want.

Also, it isn't a decline, so if you do have a company that asks about declines, you can still honestly say no to the question.

UHL is far from perfect, but every company has it warts.

Using UHL reminds me of an old saying; "If you throw enough **** against the wall, some of it is going to stick."

Unfortunately, in this business there is a thing called charge backs. When a very high up manager tells me that 33% of their business falls off the books within one year; they really are a company that should be avoided at all costs.

I certainly hope its not that high. I am going by memory but I think the actual rate I was quoted by UHL was 38%. Its been several months since we spoke.

I have always ran at about 85 to 90% for the first year. Except for UHL and that was always substantially higher. But I guess when you think about it, it makes sense. If your writing deals that most other reputable companies want nothing to do with it certainly isn't the cream of the crop business.

Happy 4th everyone!

Supposedly UHL terminates agents with less than 70% persistency.

The guy I spoke with told me they would not terminate anyone for persistency unless they got down into the low 50's. It would also depend on how much business they sent in.

I would say Everest. The company has more than just a final expense plan. They will plan the funeral based on your wishes. The company also has an online portal to help you create a will. Then, they will shop funeral homes in your area to find out which one has the best rates. If your loved one die in another state, the company will make travel arrangements for the deceased.
Sounds just like my favorite carrier that's named after a president! :)
