Calling Leads

Ok guys. My first adventure in internet leads. I wanted to ask what is the expectation with regards to privacy. Example if wife answers rather than husband or vice versa? I assume you are allowed to tell them who you are and why you called--as in completed an online quote request for life insurance?

Personally I will say what I need to without being untruthful to speak to a live lead. Privacy would be my last thought.

With internet life leads, be prepared of the worst quality of leads you can purchase. I stopped buy leads from the big boys earlier this year. Quality was just so poor at that point.

All I can say to your comment is: You are right. I'm glad you put your marketing dollars to where they work for you best. Internet leads do not work for all folks. That is a fact.

But, to those agents that continually buy $500 - $10,000+ per month in leads from us....they must be doing something right!

Life leads are hands down, the toughest & most expensive internet leads to generate. We get more fraud/bogus leads in this category than any other, 2nd is Med-Supp.

One may wade through some bogus leads but it is a numbers game. Buying 10 leads/week generally won't get you to where you want/need to be. As long as you have a process & can return the bad stuff, it does work from what I hear in talking to agents.

Another good tool that more & more agents are loving is going to Live Transfer leads. Then the call center deals with the garbage & you spend your time talking to folks about their insurance instead of dealing with bad numbers, leaving voice mail messages or upset consumers. It is worth the incremental cost IMHO.

What is the ROI: You buy a net 10 leads [after returning any for bogus credit] that cost you $25 each = $250 net cost. You sell 1 policy only [10%] for an average annual premium of only $800.

Net Commission, depending on what plan you are on is: $550 to maybe only $300 or so after paying for the leads. Plus you may even write other policies in the household or get a referral. Please, Please tell my why this math does not work!

Anyone interested in making money with internet leads, Live Transfer leads, please give me an opportunity to earn your business!

getting back to the point of this thread.....

put yourself in their position, of course you can ask for the person who filled out the application...if they ask who you are, state at that point the reason for your call and if it was a good time for them to talk. take notes, find out the person you were talking to and remember that they live in the household too. some agents complain the leads suck, some agents take advantage of the information they are given to first build a relationship, and then sell your product second. also, with this being your first batch of leads you probably shouldn't expect to write 5 policies out of your first 10 leads. it's all a numbers game, and the more people you talk to, the easier it will be for you to handle each situation that is thrown your way over the phone.

Are your shared leads better than other lead companies? The company that I am with offers "real time" shared leads for $5 to their agents. I am 2 days into it and ready to strangle someone. The leads are from Prospect Zone and they are HORRIBLE....but no more horrible than any other company offering shared health leads. These leads aren't shared just with agents..they're shared with call centers who have dozens of agents. My experience has been that I would do just as well making calls out of a phone book....

The thing is the good leads are out there. However the powers that be work to contain them. As far as calling them just be honest.

You could legally and ethically say you are calling them back. simply because they requested it and websites generally tell people they will be contacted.

Short answer: YES, my leads are much, much better than the $5 shared lead you are buying. I recently talked to a Regional VP of a national carrier. This carrier has a deal with someone that let's their agents buy shared Life leads for $4 & Exclusive Life leads for $12. The guy called me because his agents that buy leads at this special rate.....receive less than 2 leads/month & that isn't working.

The first thing I told him was I know why his agents aren't getting any more leads than that. He of course asked me why:) My answer: No One can sell life leads that cheap! All his agents are getting is left over leads that the provider couldn't sell to anyone else. Obviously that isn't very many that didn't sell for way more than that.

So my proposal was: I'll sell your agents shared leads at $22 & Exclusive Life leads at $35. He said "they won't pay that much for them." I said, let me talk to them & explain the ROI. Short version: His agents make $800 on an average life policy. So, if they buy 10 exclusive life leads for $35 = $350. If they can only sell 1 or 10% of them a policy they still make $450 bucks per policy! Who wouldn't take that deal? [$800 - $350 = $450]

Bottom line: I got their business.

Agree with this. You have to work out a protocol for each different type of situation. This is particularly important if you are going to pass the calling on to others as you scale your business. The types of situation you encounter will vary according to where you are getting your list from which is why I often request samples before committing to lists.
