Can't Discuss Value Added Services During AEP

Well that explains it. Can't wait to hear their suggestion on how to answer someone who asks about value added services.

Answer: Any and all value added services will be mentioned in the Welcome Kit you receive. Once you receive your Welcome Kit, call me, and we will discuss them in greater detail.[/I]

Their answer.
Well my friend just signed up with a plan with transportation and silver sneakers. I'll just call that agent

Does make more sense. And I thought I remember a couple years ago when doing a pup seminar that VAS were the discounts. Not SS and trans

Didn't Humana eliminate all their value added services a few years ago anyhow?

Lol. God that company sucks b%ll sacks.

How fun. We have the best career in the world. So helping seniors is not really what we are allowed to do. Answering their questions honestly and being straight to the point is not what Humana wants us to do.

Is this only them, or a CMS rule?

Just got back from a mandatory local training with Aetna/Coventry and I specifically asked about discussing Value Added Benefits. The rep said they got formal notification from CMS and we are allowed to discuss VAB during the presentation.

Leave it up to Humana to interpret the rules differently than everyone else.

Humana may be doing this because they may be making changes in their VAS
this year

Vas are not guaranteed on any plan for the year

I Bet Humana is going to make some changes mid year
and does not want to deal with upset customers during this change

"IF ASKED SPECIFICALLY ABOUT VAIS, an appropriate response for
an agent to provide would be:
"Mr./Mrs._________, yes we do have some additional discounts and
services and they vary by geographic area. However, those additional
discounts and services are not considered actual benefits of the plan
and are not really part of what we think you should be basing your
enrollment decision on whether this is the right plan for your possible
medical needs. In fact, CMS asks us not to discuss them until you
actually become a member so that the focus isn't taken off of what is
most important.
When you become a plan member, you'll be sent all the information
about those additional discounts and services, and we can discuss them
at length when we talk again during your New Member Orientation. At
that time, I'll be reviewing those value added services, some additional
information on how to get the most out of your plan and a few other
things. Would that be alright with you?""

The reply that Humana gave sounds like it was written by a HOG (home office guy/gal) who has never sold insurance.

Good thing Humana does not sell cars...Does this car have power seats? I can disclose that information after you purchase the vehicle.
