Carrier Downloads? Is this Just what It Sounds Like?

Can someone explain exactly what this is referring to when looking at management systems? My assumption has been that when you bind a policy it captures client info or policy forms automatically? Or am I way off base here? It always tends to be on the top pricing tier of any management system, so I gather that I'd probably want to have it if I'm spending any $ on software.

POlicy data/information downloads into the management system, and can be displayed in various formats. It is also useful in filling applications, certs, loss notices, etc. Functionality will depend on the agency management system, but generally it further automates the new business and renewal process.
