Children's Health Insurance Rates 4th Quarter

Preventative alone is quite expensive if anyone remembers the numbers of shots and well baby visits.

Smallpox was the only vaccine I got until I was maybe 6. Then I got a polio vaccination.

I think a bunch of new diseases have come around since then.

I lost track of how many shots my son received during his first year.

Here's a schedule I found:

Hepatitis B vaccine:

First dose at birth to 2 months
Second dose at 1 to 4 months
Third dose at 6 to 18 months
Hib vaccine:

First dose at 2 months
Second dose at 4 months
Third dose at 6 months
Fourth dose at 12 to 15 months
Polio vaccine:

First dose at 2 months
Second dose at 4 months
Third dose at 6 to 18 months
Fourth dose at 4 to 6 years
DTaP vaccine:

First dose at 2 months
Second dose at 4 months
Third dose at 6 months
Fourth dose at 15 to 18 months
Fifth dose at 4 to 6 years
DTaP is recommended at 11 years
Pneumococcal vaccine:

First dose at 2 months
Second dose at 4 months
Third dose at 6 months
Fourth dose at 12 to 18 months
Rotavirus vaccine:

First dose at 2 months
Second dose at 4 months
Third dose at 6 months
Hepatitis A vaccine:

First dose at 12 months
Second dose at 18 months
Influenza vaccine:

First dose at 6 months (requires a booster one month after initial vaccine)
Annually until 5 years (then yearly if indicated or desired, according to risks)
MMR vaccine:

First dose at 12 to 15 months
Second dose at 4 to 6 years
Varicella vaccine:

First dose at 12 to 15 months
Second dose at 4 to 6 years
Meningococcal vaccine:

Single dose at 11 years
Human papillomavirus vaccine (adolescent girls only):

First dose at 11 years
Second dose two months after first dose
Third dose six months after first dose

Good thing I have a garlic necklace.

Back on topic, Cigna's rate up for GI kids is 150% in Georgia. It varies by state.

Let me take a stab at the math. It's a 65% increase for children under 1 and a max increase of 150% for uninsurability.

Assume the previous base rate was $100/mo. The bidding starts at $165 then can go to $412. Cigna also doesn't write child only, so add that onto a $300/mo husband/wife premium and you're over $700.

How many $700/mo cases do agents write? Near zero.

Putting a real face on this, mom age 25 and newborn in Atlanta wants $2000 copay plan.

Mom is $169.

Healthy kid is $287. Sick kid is $717

Thank you Obama.

This prevents someone from trying to save money off their group plan when they have a sick child.

Maybe the employee's plan is free. Add the wife and kid and now they're paying $600.

The husband says "Hey, after 9/23 I''ll beat the system. I'll drop my wife and son off onto Cigna and save money.

Nope.

Well yeah, but that $600 can be pre-tax while the $886 is after tax.

No, that won't work either.

At least in 2014 they will have the exchange and maybe a tax subsidy, unless the nasty Republicans strip the funding for Obamacrap.

This will be funny to see with leads.

It used to be " oh goodie, a nice fat family app", now it's like "Oh SH$%, F$#@ Me....another family lead".

LOL....time to call the lead vendors.....send me only single leads....ha
