BREAKING: Cigna reviewing plans to be sole offering on Obamacare exchange in Maricopa County
Now that Phoenix Health Plans Inc. is bailing out of the Obamacare health insurance marketplace, Cigna Healthcare of Arizona Inc. is the only one left in Maricopa County.
This gives Cigna access to 127,000 individuals who currently are enrollees of the Affordable Care Act's exchange in Maricopa County.
But whether Cigna stays is yet to be seen.
"As in past years, Cigna's participation in the public marketplace exchanges is contingent upon market conditions and approval of our regulatory filings," said Joe Mondy, spokesman for Cigna (NYSE: CI). "We are currently reviewing our plans with regulators, and will provide further insight after this process has concluded."

The article goes on to say that HHS is comforting us, saying they are working on securing carriers for us. I sure hope so, HHS! Phoenix Metro area has 4.5 million people.
----------
Also, by the way, in addition to those 127,000 on-exchange people, there rare 100,000 off-exchange people losing coverage. Phoenix has NO off-exchange market for 2017, and Cigna was our only carrier on-exchange. If they exit, we have zero IFP carriers for a city of 4.5 million people.
