COBRA for 18 months then what?

1%. Wow! That sucks. That'd barely pay for my paper app faxing fee. I don't even know what Aetna pays for HIPAA in FL. I would go out on a limb and say most likely 1% too.

Thank you everyone for the replies and wisdom!

Since I'm planning to get my license within the next couple of weeks I was hoping that if they did go with another company that maybe I could get in on the commission since I will have my life, health, and variable annuity license by then. That is, of course, IF I get appointed with who they go with and a bunch of other ifs.

A risk pool can be a solution, but is not always a workable solution. FL had (has) a risk pool, but it was poorly designed so it has been closed to new entrants for about a dozen years.

ME also has a risk pool and it is also closed. Again, poor design.

There are no simple, easy answers to "universal" coverage.

Maine does not have any risk pool I am aware of. Maine is GI. Now if you are reffering to Dirigo that is closed to individuals but is not a risk pool.
