Not naming specific carriers but I felt it important to bring to everyone's attention that commission rates are currently in limbo for 2K15 OE. This goes for both on and off exchange plans.

How long have you been in this business? They have been 'in limbo' constantly since March 23, 2010.

The fact that each of the carriers is withholding information (and will continue to do so until on or just before any changes are put into effect) are standard practice for the industry, there is never any warning that they are changing.

While I am not a big union fan, every year it's the same when you ask for a commission schedule and told it's coming and it doesn't come until you are already smack in the middle of oep or aep. I wish every agent in the nation that participate's in the annual enrollment's had the financial resources just to say enough is enough and I ain't writing until I see commission's in writing. There is absolutely no reason in the world that carrier's, fmo's, imo's, mga's, cga's cannot give you your new schedule by Oct 1 each year.

I asked the other day if they were staying the same for under 65 and was told we won't know for a while, but don't be surprised if they go down. This time I said I wish you'd let me know so I can decide if I want to partake in your little picnic this year or go some where else.

You vote with your feet. You don't need a union for that. Who cares what others do. If the pay is not competitive with what you make elsewhere, move on.

This is the free market. It's the greatest thing that we still have in this country.

Well you have a point, but I thought the point of this thread no one is being told what commission's will be. So not wanting to sound snarky here, but if no one is being told then what's the sense of moving on to another company that don't know?

Carriers should be forthcoming about commissions. Even more so if you have to go through certifications, etc.

Given what happened this year, with SOME carriers "forgetting" to pay commissions for months, working Obamacare is a double or triple whammy.

- you don't know what (or when or if) you will be paid
- you don't know how their rates stack up until teacher rings the bell
- you don't know benefits, networks and formulary until the last minute

Yeah, that's a great system.

Some carriers are mysterious with their Medicare advantage plans also...as if the contents are sacred script. Are they afraid of copycats? from the competition..sheesh.
