Controlled business question

Its obvious the OP is green. IF, they have agents under them, they are as green as the OP... the blind leading the blind is always a scary thing when other peoples money is involved!

OP needs to go Captive and actually learn something about this business.

Of course, no major Captive shop will hire an agent who asks the same question as the OP has in this thread.

I totally agree. The OP has to learn the ropes before anything else.

Mass is not captive you can sell other products and your business doesn't stick with them if you leave you still get renewals. Most carriers do pay on controlled but if you lapse they will haunt you kinda like what the other person said. They have money to come after and blacklist you

VECTOR is the word not blacklist.

Mass is a captive career shop that offers indy contracting
The folks on the career side would strongly disagree with your claim that they are not captive. They however, will not chime in because the compliance dept won't allow it on a public forum.

If you have a B/D, you're captive. The only questions are do you even realize it and just how tightly do they hold you?

What's b and d

Shakray, obviously you know nothing about this industry. B/D is broker dealer. All of the big captives: Guardian, MM, NWML, NYL, etc. will also want you to secure your 6&63 or 7&66 from FINRA so that you can put money under management or sell security products such as variable annuities and mutual funds. To secure these license you have a have a sponsoring broker dealer.

I don't plan on getting my securities license anytime since I only want to sell insurance

Shakray,

You need to "start over". Start a new thread introducing yourself, your age (yes, that's helpful), what you're looking to do, why you're interested in insurance sales, your prior experience, licenses held, etc. This one being your first thread sends up a lot of 'red flags' and now you have been labeled as someone severely inexperienced and quite possibly dangerous to have the public work with.

There is a lot of experience on this board, and if you're smart, you'll find a way to get us to help you if you introduce yourself and ask questions about the career choices ahead of you.
