I usually am tracking account managers salary as a percentage of total revenue more than by number of accounts and premium size. Number of accounts and premium for an AM will vary, depending on the experience and skill of the AM, plus size and type of accounts written also will be a factor.
But to answer your question.
We average about 100 accounts and 4,000,000 of premium per AM.

Wow, that is much more premium than I would have expected which is actually amazing news, but obvious to me that my commercial accounts are much smaller premiums than yours (so perhaps more labor intensive). I am looking for assistance with about 250 customers and $1.2k of premium. I am hoping that as my book grows I can ask the AM to handle that as well. The thing is I work crazy hours handling this so I am wondering how she will be able to handle more volume in a 40 hour work week.
