Hi---yes I'm the new guy here. Long time lurker if that counts.

I would appreciate some guidance pertaining to FEHB folks. If a person is a Federal Retiree and they have chosen a PacifiCare plan option through the FEHB, can they also enroll in PacifCare's MAPD, Secure Horizons and be double covered? Are there COB issues if they can or would they have no co-payments? I'm just using PacifiCare/Secure Horizons as an example. What is the advantage of a FEHB person enrolling in a MAPD?
Thank you,

They can't use both so if MAPD is better than it might work but the biggest concern is they may lose a better RX plan without the PDP limitations.

If the RX plan is a separate plan benefit that they can keep even if they drop the medical like the BCBS Federal Retiree plan than it can work if prospect wants to save the monthly premium.I have found that most federal retired employees however can afford to pay the premium and are usually better off where they are. You have to call the prospects health benefit administrator and make sure first.
