My husband and I are separated but not legally. He just informed me he has dropped my medical coverage thru Walmart. He has been told. He can't do that This now leaves me uninsured. Can u be put back on even tho open enrollment is over.
if Walmart's open enrollment period is over, the answer is likely no. That is huge corporation and It's just not gonna happen. Now you might be able to claim a qualifying event; like a court order maybe......It will probably take FOREVER
The good news is that we are still in open enrollment for the federal marketplace. I'm sure you will qualify for a tax credit. If you need to speak with an agent you can personal message me and I can get you in contact some people who are licensed in virtually every state. They can walk you through the market place.
If you are offered coverage through and employer and currently NOT on the plan you are NOT eligible for tax credits!
That's Exchange 101 info, just wanted to make that clear, otherwise any tax credits would be owed back. It sucks but is how it works. Paying full cost is not fun either
Voluntarily dropping COBRA coverage does not give you the ability to elect a plan in the federal marketplace unless it is open enrollment for the ACA (open enrollment ends February 15th) or COBRA coverage ends (usually 18 months of coverage).
