Google Voice vs. RingCentral

When trying to make a call from your GV number without using the web based client it is that long.

Dial your number, press #, enter your PIN, press 2, then dial.

But, when you're using your browser it's a godsend. If you already use Gmail and the address book everyone is stored in your google voice account also.

So, looking for a number becomes typing in part of their name and clicking connect. It's also much easier to send SMS.

Sounds like as long as you are in the office and have the browser/app open you would be fine. Maybe not so much if you are making lots of phone calls out in the field.

that app doesn't work on the Iphone. It has a Google Mobile app, but the google voice app only works on the blackberry. Or did I misread the instructions?

Apple removed Google voice as an app.

Yea Apple's official explanation was that the Google voice app duplicated features already available on the iphone :skeptical:

Supposedly, AT&T are not happy with the App either since it circumvents their service = less money. I think Apple pulled the plug to shut down the competition, which is understandable but still blows!

I have both Google Voice and Magic Jack.

IMHO GV is only suitable for personal use. I intend to sign up with Toktumi or Ring Central when my budget allows... they are more suitable for business use. GV came in handy this summer when I was on my rooftop fixing a leak... I set all my phones to ring when I get a call and I carried my cell phone in my pocket so I did not come down off the roof to answer a call.....

I use Magic Jack to make outbound calls. It is good for making telemarketing calls and to call my out of state family without LD charges, but my computer must be on for it to work, and this is not good for incoming calls. I have a handset near my workstation, but it is not wireless. I am not even sure a wireless set will work with Magic Jack.... I haven't bothered to look it up.
