Hospital Confinement Indemnity + Health

My dad has a United Healthcare policy through his job, he pays around $300 with a $5,000 deductible and 20% coinsurance, $7500 MOOP. He will need to have a minor day surgery, no time frame specified, just sometime in the future, to have his parathyroid gland removed. Right now it would cost him his entire deductible, $5000.

Do you think I would be able to sell him a hospital confinement/indemnity policy to cover that 5k? Or would this be considered preexisting and not covered, or at least not covered for the first year, which he doesn't mind waiting anyways.

If this is a good possibility for him, which carrier do you suggest? Thanks!

I think it would be tough to find a plan that has GI unless it's group. Colonial will waive underwriting at a certain point.

Also you should look closely at the UHC plan in place. It could have additional Co pays or Specific deductibles for Inpatient and outpatient.

As for avatars i want this to be a somewhat professional environment. There are plenty of other places on the web to find what you are looking for.
