How is This Cold Calling Script

I have a pretty good script I have been using the last two days. I use a dialer and not sure of the exact number of people I actually spoke with but made about 160 dials the last two days but if I had to guess, I actually got a live person probably every 4th or 5th call and of those I set 3 appointments with this script. I sell individual health ins. Here goes....

"Hello, is this ______? My names Tim with _________. Just a courtesy call. Can I ask u for 30 seconds of ur time to tell u exactly why I am calling and if u like what u hear, we can talk further, and if you don't, u can simply hang up."<---alot of times a get a quick chuckle and "sure, go ahead"

If they say yes, which more than 90% of them did, I also have a short but powerful little spiel I use and simply ask them at the end..."from a business standpoint(since I target small business, self employed), would that be of interest to you?"

My thoughts are if I ask them for 30 seconds, they will at least be nice enough and give me that opportunity instead of just calling and trying to pitch something to them. Almost always they say yes and only ONE person actually hung up on me.

Also, by actually telling them my company name, they should have a very good "clue" that it is concerning "health insurance" but hardly noone will turn you down if you politely ask them for 30 seconds of their time. Heck, even a Service Veteran gave me 30 seconds knowing I would not be able to help him because he has free VA benefits, but because I asked for permission of his time, he gave it to me and then told me :)

Hope this helps anyone. Like I said, I set 3 appointments in a little less than 3 hours actually calling. Now if I can just motivate myself to put in more "dial time" :)

I like it. I would cut out the business name in the beginning. Even though it sounds like you are hooking their interest by asking for their time and not telling them why you called, gets them all curious.
My script is very similar in design.

Hi is {FIRSTNAME} in? Hi {FIRSTNAME}, my name is _____ and {FIRSTNAME} you're not gonna recognize my name because I'm actually calling you as a cold call. Would it be okay if I QUICKLY tell you why I called you?

{FIRSTNAME} I won't hold you up. I'm an INSURANCE BROKER that Networks with Small Business Owners like yourself, and I'm calling to see if you are MAD with how much you're HAVING TO PAY for your health insurance these days?

1.What company are you with?
2.How long have you been with them?
3. Who is on your plan (spouse, dependants)
4.How much are you paying per month?
5.Besides the price, how do you feel about the benefits?

{FIRSTNAME} when's the best time to get back to you with the new rates?

Now before I let you off the phone, I just need to verify DOB's, zip code, and if anyone is a smoker.

And/Also, did you want us to run some Life Insurance Quotes for you as well? Rates have lowered recently in this area.

Re: How is This Script

Wow, Rick, is this the same attitude that you deliver to your clients? How does that work for you? Your arrogance-toned responses on these forums are unbelievable.

First of all, I was responding to my friend's post and was in jest, and if you had 1/2 a brain you would have known it from his response.

Second, kiss my a$$.

Rick

When I first came on the forum I also thought Rick to be the most arrogant person on here. But now that i have been here a while I don't think that any more.. I know it. So what? It is a dirty job but somebody has to do it. If he didn't do it, it just might fall on you. :err:

I'm not arrogant. I'm an azzhole.

Get it straight.

Wonder who has a good CI policy.

It's hard to read sarcasm and jest in a text format. I've found you have to learn a little about the poster and take it in context. I actually think Rick's posts can be both informative and entertaining.

Just how long have you been on Rick's payroll? :skeptical:
