Dear Forum,
I am a newly formed independent insurance brokerage firm located in Brooklyn, NY and a home office in NJ. I have my P&C and L&H brokerage licenses. I have had numerous requests from clients who are seeking auto insurance quotes, but, I cannot find any nationwide or smaller auto insurance carriers who want to work with an independent insurance brokerage firm. All want to have captive relationships and I am looking to have independent broker relationships with these personal lines carriers. Can someone help me or guide me into how you have developed relationships with automobile and personal lines carriers in New York or New Jersey when first starting up your independent insurance brokerage agency. Any advice would be much appreciated. Also, I have a lot of inquiry into TLC and Livery type policies and commercial carrier policies, but, I am also having a hard time developing those relationships. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
