No, Warner Robins is not in that service area. However, you do have other options. However, they will all require a waiting period outside of that one particular carrier. So it really depends on how soon you want to have a baby and what your budget is as to which carrier would be best. There is another carrier that has a similar plan, they just require a waiting period and it to be a family plan ($3,000 for childbirth).

Thank you for your help. I am not sure I am following you though. Are you saying it is worth it for the security of the "abnormal"? Or are you saying it's not worth it because anything going wrong with the baby is covered automatically. Sorry for not following the bouncing ball!

what I am saying is compare a plan that does not cover and one that does to figure out what you are getting for your money and look at it cost effectively....but what you need to concentrate on is if something is wrong with the baby when they are born.... then they become a new insured on your policy no matter if they cover maternity or not....the humana rider cost about $300 more a month on top of the reg. prem. and still had to meet a deductible and co~insurance....here in texas the normal delivery is about $5,000 to $8,000...soooo....nine plus months to have a baby and the time to get pregnant you have to weigh whats in you best interest.....

Like I said, you're the expert, figure it out. You can doubt it all you want, but that doesn't make it untrue. I asked a while back how you were going to help agents all across the country that join your association when it comes to matters like this and you said you would have others assisting. Ask your assistant that knows the Georgia market.

I like the diversion tactic but the fact remains that if you're telling clients that a pregnancy (pre-natal + birth) is $3,000 that's a "Mega-ish" way of thinking.

Instead of a diversion I'm more interesting in how you're coming up with your $3,000 figure.

And I have plenty GA contacts and already know what's available for maternity in GA which is why I called you out when you said you had a lot of options which is also why you can't reply to that post - because there's not.

Now - can we get back to $3,000 for pre-natal + birth?

Well, that just proves me wrong, doesn't it (NOT)? Maybe I can send this over to the carriers that have the plan that offer a $3,000 maternity benefit and let them know they aren't telling the truth. And they definitely need to take it out of their brochures. And more importantly, they need to go back to the clients of mine and any others that have used the benefit and charge them more.

One of the plans breaks it down this way:

Maternity (obstetrician/midwife) - $1,000 copay
Hospital Delivery - $2,000 copay

Another plan breaks it down this way:

Maternity Physician - In-Network - 100% not subject to calendar year deductible
Maternity Facility - In-Network - $3,000 copay then plan pays 100% (not subject to calendar year deductible)

So, to answer your earlier question as to how I came up with the $3,000 figure, in my remedial math classes that I took, $1,000 plus $2,000 equals $3,000. And for the other plan $0 plus $3,000 equals $3,000. If you get a calculator out and push the following sequence, you can check my math to make sure it's right. Press the number one(1), zero(0), zero(0), zero(0) (now press the plus (+) sign). Next press two(2), zero(0), zero(0), zero(0). Now here's the tricky part, press the equals sign (it looks like this =). If I counted all my fingers and toes correctly, you should get $3,000. Oh how I pray that you're able to come up with the same number that I did. I need your approval John so please tell me you came up with $3,000.

As for the other plan, the math is a little easier since the only charge is $3,000.

These are major medical plans. One has a $5,000,000 lifetime limit. The other is unlimited. They both have maximum out of pocket. Each depends on the deductible you choose. Both are 70/30 after the deductible until another $2,000 OOP is met, then 100%. They also include doctor visit copays for the normal visits outside of maternity. The first plan has a $30 copay for regular dr visits and $50 for specialists. The other allows for 6 visits per year at $40. In addition, Preventive Care for adults isn't subject to dr visit maximum nor deductible.

Lastly, since you have "plenty" of contacts in Georgia and already know what's available, then you shouldn't be questioning the $3,000 pre-natal and delivery benefits. But I really wouldn't expect anything less from you. You have this issue with always being right and never admitting that you are wrong. And that's ok. It just shows your ignorance at times.

Just because I won't tell you the carriers names doesn't make it a diversion. It just means you don't know who it is. Which kind of shows you may not know as much as you think you do. Just like I have no clue about the plans available in Maryland and wouldn't think of recommending something to a person in Maryland. Nor would I make broad statements that someone should use 1 carrier for maternity no matter what state they are in. I like to do what's best for the client. And quite frankly, here in Georgia, Assurant isn't what's best for the client. It is however what's best for the agent since they pay a higher commission than most carriers in addition to annualizing commissions. Some of us are ok with doing the right thing and taking a lower commissions as earned. It tends to make for loyal clients who refer people to you.
