I would like to transfer one of my carrier appointments to another IMO and I was wondering if that was a big deal? I'm on an as earned contract with no debit balance, so I don't see how it would hurt them. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thanks.

Normally is 6 months no production, no debit balance they you are a free agent.

Unless they have given it to you in writing that they will release you regardless.............

Which company and what product line...As has been posted a lot of companies will require no production for 6 months....However many life carrier will allow whats called dual appointment and every carrier has different criteria...Pick up the phone and call contracting at the carrier they will tell you the policy and what if any exemptions there are...

Just because the IMO doesn't say upfront that they will give a release doesn't mean they won't when asked. If it is just one contract, the IMO may release one that you have no debt balance and have written little business with. Call it a goodwill gesture that may help them retain the contracts you are writing more business with.

Curious why you want to transfer?

It can "hurt" them as they won't be earning an override anymore on you. Even if not producing, it also means less agents under them.
