You could save yourself a lot of time, etc. by paying $50 a month and you can download an unlimited # of filtered(the way you want) names.

There are a lot of ways to do it, some better than others. In most counties the homeowner information along with property info (including at least some mortgage data) is public record. Without needing to get too fancy you can guess income and such right off of that.
If you have a library card you can go to referenceUSA and get a hundred or so at a time that way too.
Mailhouses usually just buy their lists from Acxiom or other providers such as myself.

this is true. I will not argue with that. I believe anything you try on your own has to be with funds you are willing to lose. In any case, my mailer returns or horrible recently.

If you're getting "old" list you may have an issue with only 80% being deliverable. If you need only a few thousand names at a time, members of my association can access great lists very inexpensively. I'm not selling them but making them available at my cost.
If you want access to download 100,000 names with almost any filter you can think of you should consider Lead Research Group. This where I get my lists.
