Here in Chicago, Unitrin had their name atop a skyscraper. Now it reads Kemper I noticed. Years ago I worked as a stockbroker at a former Kemper Securities office. Maybe Kemper is making a comeback?

You all are thinking of Federal Kemper which was bought by Zurich about 10 years ago.

The Parent company of Reserve National Life Ins Company licensed the 'KEMPER' Brand Name from Zurich to boost P&C sales, and recently just finalized the purchase of the Brand Name in 2010. The Holding company changed it's name in 2010 to KEMPER Life and Health Company.

You run across this company quite a bit in the Specialty Health and P&C markets and they have added the GIWL and Home Health Care plans recently and just began marketing them a couple months ago.

Vantis got out of that business. Gerber and Great Western are the most popular.
