I have to say the Dunkin Donuts in this area suck the donuts are not fresh and I much prefer Tim Hortons...I've never had a Krispy Kreme as I am unaware of any in Maine.

You can experience inconsistent quality from store to store as DD is a chain. If the baker doesn't stuff enough of the chocolate creme, those donuts are lame...

I believe it. The DD near my house is terrible. Went in a several times and they were "stale" each time. Maybe just dry like you say here.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for my weight) Krispy Kreme is far away. Never got a bad doughnut from them, creme filled or the originals.

I had a cup of coffee at a Tim Horton's for the first time this weekend. Good coffee. Interesting place. No heavenly idea why they are so huge in Canada...

There is a local chain here in town called Donut Bank. Many of the locals rave about them but I do not share that enthusiasm. It is as you say "no heavenly idea why they are so huge" in Evansville although they do have good coffee. There were two Dunkin Donut stores here years ago but they didn't make it.

KK is really good, but they don't have anything that can come close to the Duncan chocolate creme filled pastry with white powder sugar!

I haven't had a Dunkin Donut in years (there are none here) but I always like the apple filled with cinamon sugar on the outside.

DD closed a ton of locations in AZ for years, then just came back a year or two ago with 20-30 new locations. They got rid of the toasted coconut with the bavarian filling though which pissed me off but they did keep the vanilla creme so they retained my business!

Its worse than that in Maine the Dunkin Donuts no longer bake any donuts in the store they are may at a central facility and trucked in....After about 10am the donuts are stale and there is little to no selection.

Tim Hortons is okay its just most of the ones around me are converted Wendys and I miss that burger option.

One thing DD did not too long ago was frying in vegetable oil-- big mistake!
