Leaving Agency Money Owed

I am a non captive agent and am going to leave the company that is my general agency in NC and they owe me money from renuals on medicare advantage's this year. Am I entitled to the money. They are located in another state. Thanks.

You'll need to look at your contract. If you own the block of business than yes. If they own the block then no.

Hmmm. Not really sure how I can help. Got any friends that are attorneys and won't charge you for advice? If they owe you quite a bit it might be worth hiring a lawyer at least to scare them out of the money.

Unless you have a contract that states otherwise, you are entitled to your renewals. I've been getting a monthly check from a former FMO. Surprised me.

You didn't say that they weren't going to pay you. If you have advances, you won't get money untill those are paid back.
