I'm glad I found this site because this is what I've been looking for and need independent agents for advice. I have a Life, Health and Annuities license and P&C. Been in the industry for 3+ yrs. I have business experience since my husband and I have owned a business. And I am looking to go independent. Have been in the past worked for Independent Agencies and another company that I was captive. I want to sell Life and Health products in Virginia as an independent agent. 1. Any suggestions on carriers for competive pricing? 2. United Health Care Co. if I sign up with them are they captive? So I can't sell other products just theirs? 3) Is it worth going with a company that I am captive or is it worth going to independent carriers? 3) I saw an internet sight that I could have a website but have to pay a monthly fee. Is it worth doing? Any input. Thanks.

Are you familiar with the term FMO? An insurance field marketing organization is a company that acts as a "wholesaler" for several different insurance companies. They typically can help you with your marketing efforts (including web design), case design and product selection, as well as processing new business paperwork. I would interview several (measure twice and cut once) for each type of product that you plan to market, and see who you feel like will best serve your needs.

There are plenty of Fmo owners and representative on this forum that would like an opportunity to earn your business For term life insurance there is no reason to go anywhere but EZ Life Sales. Here is a list published by lifehealth pro a few years ago also.
