Magic Jack

For the other guy, if you have TMobile cell phone service - you can add a VOIP line for $10 a month plus $40 to 60 one time for their router. Still need plus internet in the office to hook it up. Plus if you want toll free you need to figure that out.

I use T-Mobile, and have the wifi "Hotspot" phone access. We don't use it for our home phone, we still have Comcast for that (since it is almost free in our package) but all of our cell phones run off the wifi signal. All calls made on wifi are free, and you can pick up a hotspot at any free wifi location. Basically, you can use your cell on anytime minutes all day long at places like Panera, McDonalds, etc. And it is only $10 a month. Way better than paying for 4 phones to have unlimited minutes.

Oh, and tell them you want the router free. We've gotten 2 of them without paying a penny.

Nice and thanks. Gives me another reason to dump AT&T for my wireless provider.

Can I ask if your are running cable or DSL? My impression is VOIP comes down to bandwidth plus a router that has QoS or Quality of Service. VOIP sucks on a weak DSL connection. Cable appears to be better.

I have Comcast package deal. They are idiots but if they go down they have you up that day and usually fairly quickly. I had AT&T go down due to a loose wire they could have fixed in 2 minutes but they would not come out. I had no phone or net for 24 hours.

Comcast is clueless porting toll free numbers. So I can get a toll free for $15 a month? Any minutes? Thanks for the tip.

I have both my Toktumi (VoIP) and MagicJack (also VoIP) on DSL on separate computers. They conflict on the same computer (even though Toktumi says they shouldn't). It's not a problem, really, because MagicJack is just not suitable for a professional business application. Besides, Toktumi has everything needed... you don't need MagicJack too, it's just that I bought MagicJack prior and since it's a one-time purchase, find it useful for personal calls on my family computer.

As far as porting over toll-free numbers, AT&T will not port their toll-free #s to anything but their own landline service. !!!! Did you know that??? I just got burned.

Toktumi will require an additional line charge equal to your primary if you want a toll-free AND a local number. I was only paying $2.95/mo to AT&T for a toll-free number that was provisioned to my business number. I didn't ask for my toll-free to be ported over when I ported my business line, thinking it would just continue to ring at my business number, but not so....

We have three of them in our office, two are used pretty much all day. We have standard Business class internet in the office and we never have a problem using Majic Jack.

Sure beats adding more voice lines to the office!

Thanks. Yeah Comcast does not know that AT&T will ignore it. Thanks for telling me. So for that Comcast line I have now _ I can get a new 800 number and they go through one of the big internet fiber optic loop companies that buried fibre optic then went chap 11. Not Xo Communications but another one.

I can get another Comcast line and can I pay for just a Toktumi toll free? Or get a $10 a month TMobile line (if you have their cell service) and add a Toktumi toll free to that?

Thanks.
