Most of the major insurance companies including Mass will want you to start with Project 100 or 200. They want you to list and call the 100 or 200 people that you know. They have a point system that details how many phone dials, meetings, meals etc that you do on a weekly basis. This will get you some activity, but will quickly end if you cant get referrals or find another lead source. Try to find a niche that will be your specialty, at first I was all over the place. I tried to get every piece of business and tried lots of different areas. I found that by referring business out of my experience and co-working with specialists that I learn much more and make more money.
It is like a single guy going out for the first time. At first he will try to go out with almost any woman, but after he gains his skills and confidence he becomes more selective and only targets HIS type of girl.
