Need Some Help with a Customer who Wantgs LTCI.

She probably can get the Kemper Home Health Care Indemnity policy. Might be better than nothing. There may also be a couple of other short term care-type of options once she goes past two years from the time of surgery.

Kemper may be of value to supplement the co-pays of a MAPD plan, but I really hate to see people even mention that product on this forum as any form of a HHC solution. It is a fundamentally useless product for home health care....unless you think $40/day, for up to 60 days, and ONLY if you first have three days in a hospital and come home immediately. Just my personal opinion.....else, one more way to earn a commission check I imagine.

I'll agree that maybe a STM might work.

Herman,
I know nothing about Kemper, they're not in NY.
Are you saying their max benefits are $40/day up to 60 days?
$2,400 total coverage?

I find that hard to believe.

Look what they claim to cover:

A friend was pimping this plan a few years ago. They can cover a heart transplant if they want. Hell, I'll cover the transplant but limit my reimbursement to $17.50. (Your annual premium is $20 with a 5 year wait).

It is indeed just next to worthless.

If there's a prize I can get contracted.

Here's the deal Rick.......

Enter the contest and have a chance to win a Kemper Home Care Policy. The policy will reimburse you for dehydration. Premiums are reasonable, and considering you're in CA. you may very well require Hydration Therapy within a short period of time.

They pay for what a good Medicare supplement will pay for on its own. It primarily pays for skilled care services. If someone does not have a supplement...or maybe a F+ or a MAPD plan, it can help with the deductible or co-pays. Basically it is a short term recovery plan for skilled services....just as your list shows. Maybe someone under age 65 has a high deductible health plan....and this would help with that as well. It is not a HHC product for custodial care of any consequence....which is why I find it odd that it seems to come up periodically on this board. If I am wrong, happy to have someone correct me.

FYI, I had a contract with Kemper but never sold any of their stuff.

If you want to see all the glorious details - https://portal.reservenational.com/forms.aspx

click on State Specific Applications-Brochures-Forms
pick a state and look for Brochure-HHC-SS....whatever. I'm using IL state data.

why is everyone fixating on the $40 home health care aide benefit?

What about the $75 in-home care from an RN, LPN, or LVN?
RN - $75 per day for 360 days.

This lady is probably on a lot of meds so she will also get $250 towards meds. Her net annual cost on the base plan would be closer to $520.

Also, since she is already exhibiting issues with speech...I'd lay good odds that she'll use the Speech Pathology benefit.
