New agency

Hi everyone,

I have a small, successful CPA and Financial Planning practice with two office assistants. I have my life/health license and am toying with the idea of starting an insurance branch of my practice. The goal would be to slowly build it up for a year or two and then hire someone to take over the insurance side.

My first big question: If I get my agent licenses can I then just contract directly with the insurance carriers or do I need to have some type of broker license? (I'm in Utah if that matters.)

Also, I'm open to any pointers anyone wants to throw up for someone in my situation.

Thanks ahead.

Unless you're a control freak, find a good agent to work with, even in your office and don't try to be a jack-of-all-trades. IMHO.
