New Feature Thanks to Medsuptage

Although I really dislike people who call out other posters for bumping old threads, since it is usually done in a rude manner that drives people away, I am sensitive to the fact that it can get annoying, because long-time members click through expecting something new, and there is not, and in many cases, the bump doesn't really apply.

Medsuptage gave us the idea to force people to affirmatively acknowledge that the thread is old, before their post goes through, you can still reply to old threads, but posters will know of the age issue before their reply goes through.

Val has just completed the beta of this, feel free to check it out at these examples... http://www.insurance-forums.net/for...rats-card-after-fact-finding-appt-t41696.html

Awesome idea!!!!

Nice balance of allowing an old thread to get resurrected, but only when deliberate.

AC may not like this. He is a master of finding stuff from 18 years ago when there is an update to the topic.

On the other hand, maybe this will lead to more threads created on the same subject :D I really think advances need to be discussed more.

Thanks Sam!

That could actually be a good thing. As Sam pointed out when people reply to old threads they are usually not met with a warm response, and may not accomplish what their goal of the post was. On top of that, a lot of the old threads have out dated information. A new thread is more likely to get a positive response and current information from active members.

I think it would be a good thing. I do think it's a bit more of a stretch for folks to start a thread than comment on one, but hopefully they make that leap!
