Midwest Insurance Brokerage Services who is probably the biggest Blucross General agency in Illinois & they also write Humana. I spoke to my rep over there today, they have only have been able to put one application in through so far.

Not Good!

One more than I've heard of anyone in NY submit...

We've gotten to the point where we can make an account, but if you put your financials in and you qualify for a subsidy (which everyone on the exchange should, or else why the heck would you go there?) it locks up your account and tells you to come back later. Can't even look at product...

Broker search still doesn't work either.

It was probably an off-exchange application that was faxed or e-mailed to them wasn't it Sam? Quite amazing considering that they service over 1 million clients and 6 days have elapsed since the flood gates were opened.

We have heard people getting enrolled in Missouri after 3 hours, but most of them are just getting applications mailed to them so they really aren't signing up. We have decided to just gather up the applicants and hold on to them until a streamlined process is in place. I don't trust the system being secure at this point anyway. The companies have stated they have to have agents selling to make this work and agents can't sell right now. What sucks is we will have to call the clients back at least twice. Once to let them know the approx subsidy amount and twice to get them enrolled. This should be a one call deal, but it's not. I see a lot of late nights ahead. The good news is that commissions are good so at least there is a reason to work hard. So far we have seen the following split. 40% will get a subsidy 60% will get a new plan now or keep the plan they have til the end of next year. Next year is the big test when everyone is officially forced over. Then the madness truly begins. Lot's of 364 short terms. Lots of the new Teledoc systems(Which are awesome by the way) and lot's of packaged indemnity/supplement plans. One thing I did notice in Missouri is that Coventry's off exchange rates aren't really that terrible compared to the other carriers. Golden Rule told us that 50% of their clients would qualify for a special election period after March 31st. Some agents don't believe me when I tell them that after March 31st the only way to sell a major med type plan is with a special election. Well it's confirmed so I am not sure why they don't understand. Guess they will find out April 1st when they try to put someone on an off exchange major med.

Joshpeck I have a question for you....when you say you are "gathering" up all the applicants and then holding on to them til all the problems get worked out, are you asking them to fill out an information form that you can then use to get an initial quote and figure out if they are subsidy eligible? If you are using something like this, I'd like to see a sample or at least can you share what kinds of question to include on this quote form? Thanks!

Yes we are gathering up all of the information giving them a quote on the silver plan and letting them know when we enroll in a few weeks that they can upgrade at a higher premium or downgrade. Since its so cheap compared to what they have they are just fine with that. For some people we aren't gathering as much just telling them we will call them back and not to proceed with enrollment due to all of the issues. 100 clients gathered up so far so it's working. I can email you the form if you message me
