It can take months for a new generic to start appearing in Part D formularies. I remember Lipitor going generic mid-AEP a couple years or so ago. I got lots of calls about it. I think it was the middle of next year before it became available to Medicare beneficiaries, if memory serves.Met with a client today whose drug (Nexium 40mg) went generic at the beginning of the month. Medicare.gov doesn't give the generic as an option yet when running Part D. Anybody know how often the site is updated with drug changes?
Nexium patent expired in May 2014 and sells otc less mgs, pharmacist told me even though there was a license to make generic nothing is happening yet and may not. But if there is a license to make generic it probably will happen someday.
