I have a person retiring. She’s 67 and signed up for part A 2 years ago. We just got her part B for a June 1st effective date . I’ll get her on a plan for June 1st . My question is will the part D carrier send her a penalty letter asking her for proof she had credible coverage like she had to provide a credible coverage letter for Part B?

The will send an addistion form, just need to sign and send in or go online to the pdp site and do it there

Several years ago my first Part D carrier did request it, but I was able to provide it over the phone to a carrier rep. No idea what happens today.

So, they don’t need a letter of creditability? They just sign the letter that the insurance company sends, asking them if they’ve had coverage, and that’s it?

Yes, that's been my experience. It's a self attestation.

It’s an attestation that either can be done over the phone or on the form they send. It has to be done within 60 days or a penalty will occur. It’s a mess to get the penalty off if they don’t do this within 60 days. Then you are fighting with a third party and it takes three months with proof of creditable coverage. I’ve had to help many get their LEP off their record. Some can get a big credit back if they paid for years

Just found out the basic standard drug plan for 2025 will be 290.00 deductible, 25% coinsurance up to 2k max. My estimation is a cost of 37.00 35.00 CMS bench mark plus 6% That’s my educated guess. We may see carriers offer a couple of choices for a higher premium
