Was wondering if any of you have went through this and if so could provide insight.
I have an individual who was signed up for Medicare Part B on 8/1/2021. Not entirely sure how, but either way the individual returned their cards, spoke to Social Security several times to cancel it, and even sent in a letter.
They are now attempting to enroll into Medicare Part B for 3/1/22, and started this process in January to find out they were still enrolled in Part B -- no premiums were made. No Medicare services/claims rendered. Her Part B now has an end date of 1/31/22, with a past due amount of $2,164.40 and having difficulties enrolling into Part B because of this.
1) wouldn't Medicare cancel out Part B after 3 months of non-payment;
2) the $2,164.40 doesn't make since for Part B premiums even with IRMAA consideration.
She's getting no where with Social Security and she needs her coverage to start on 3/1 and we are only waiting on the Part B issue. She applied for Part B online in January and we're now not sure if the Past Due notice is preventing her from getting Part B. We are having no luck with Social Security directly.
