Just be honest with them and I believe that you can. I have a couple of agents that have done the same thing and they have a lic. Just tell the truth.

Most states don't give out P&C licenses with felony on record. Check with your state's insurance department

I also have felonies from 11 years ago. I got my license when they were 6 years old on my background. I had to jump through some extra hoops and it took me 6 months to get approved, but it was well worth it! You can do it!

I imagine you'd be ok since the felony isn't related to embezzlement or fraud or other insurance related crime. Just make sure you aren't handing your newly insureds a dime bag as a thank you :p Then the state will get you for kick-backs AND dealing.

Although, in reality...I imagine you'd get a lot of clientel...maybe not the most reputable...but anyone giving away dime bags for quotes/policies is bound to be busy :)

P&C and felonies tend not to mix well. You'll have 2 issues. You might talk the State into a license, though this will be a bit of a challenge, but, depending on the conviction and time, probably doable.

Then you have to get your E&O coverage, where they may not like this, but the bigger challenge will be getting appointed. That could be a big issue.

It's not a big deal to move forward and if you work on it, you'll get there, but don't expect it to be an easy thing. Life and health are much easier, since more underwriting is done elsewhere and binding is rarely (if ever) done by the agent.

here is my thought, you might be able to get a license, but I dont think any carriers will give you an appointment with them.

If you get a license, you might have to be a producer under another agent.

you must disclose it to the insurance dept....they will check back to your birth... you can apply for a felony wavier...call them, to get the form. now with insurance companies they only go back 7 -10 years for the back ground check...good luck and go for it...
