Is there anyone who will give immediate coverage to a smoker with COPD? I thought the new Americo UPII might and I plant to call and ask but I wondered if anyone knew of anyone else who would.

I thought they would only go standard if they insured was a nonsmoker.

Std is still immediate.

Americo said she is eligible for UPII. That's who I'm going with since it's $3 less.

Americo no longer takes COPD and smoker. They did until the recent changes on the Ultra Protector. Now being a smoker would make them UP2 and COPD with be a 2nd yes answer in part 2 of the application. That would knock them out for immediate coverage with Americo. Looks like Monumental/Transamerica is your best, if not only option for immediate death benefit.

I just called them for a risk screening and they said she would be eligible for UPII as long as nothing other than smoker and COPD came up. Now what I wonder is if she was referencing the old app since it isn't closed out until July 15 or if she was referencing the new app with immediate UPII coverage. I should have asked and I need to call back and ask I guess. Thanks for bringing that up.

I haven't looked at the new apps yet, but I thought I read in another thread that UPII would take COPD and smoking.

Where did you get that a 2nd yes knocks them out of UPII on the new ap? My new ap says: All health questions in part 1 are answered "no", one or more questions in part 2 are answered "yes".
Transamerica have Preferred and Standard rates.
