Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Hobby Lobby in Contraception Case

HL does not invest in manufacturers of Plan B, their employees do. HL employees and their dependents can choose a contraceptive that is covered or pay for a non-covered contraceptive themselves. They give the employee the choice to do want they want with their 401K contributions & their contraceptions. They just don't have to pay for the 4 kinds that are after the fact vs. true preventative before the fact of pregnancy.

Is "plan B" the only product manufactured by Duramed?

Micjo is correct. HL does not invest 401k monies.

Whether you see it that way or not, it is indirectly supporting abortion it like ACA.

your just wrong and misguided on this... give me a break.....

I took a potty today and used toilet paper.... had to clean several times, do I now support that type of sexual activity? NOOOOO.....

I bought a pack of gum from the convenience store that sells girley magazines.... do I now support porn?...NOOOOO

It's been my experience severely conservative Christians do extreme things like what you stated above.

Like if you listen to ACDC your a devil worshiper.

They picket a protest for things less direct than 401ks and mutual funds which include stock of companies that sell abortion pills.

If they nit pick a federal law because of abortion, they shouldn't support that stock in their employer 401k. Besides that capital is used to make more effective baby killer drugs.

The law which set precedent gave native Americans the right to smoke peyote. It was a law to protect individuals, not corporations.

I hate the ACA. But if one corporation can be exempt, then everyone should.

Aren't most of their other products still covered? My understanding is they are excluding what they consider (right or wrong) aborticants.

They are covering everything except post-conception pills and IUD's.

I agree.

When I had my Series 7 and sold the 401K plans, etc. most often that entire idea of green investing or moral investing was lost on me. You can't know all that a large corp. may or may not produce. Heck they could have a subsidiary that produces some nightmarish drug and ya wouldn't know.

Plus suppose there is a Mutual Fund involved, HL is far removed, with a very indirect touch to companies offered in the Mutual Fund. The basket of companies in that Fund can change over time, can HL control it? No. They may give the ok to offer the Fund but it is the employee's own money that is being invested in the Fund.

What HL does have control of is what they pay for and if they don't want to pay for it, they (HL) can make that choice. No way do I agree that any company should be forced by the ACA to provide insurance. Neither do I agree that sex changes are a medical necessity. Yep call me crazy but I am old school about the term medical necessity. Back in the day when medical necessity really meant a true, need health insurance was a lot more reasonably priced. Over the years States found all kinds of new mandates and as they did the price went up, up, UP.

Therefore, I find it a very large leap to try and use the "but a company in the 401K does this or that" argument to be a good debate point.
