Terminated for Cause (unjustly)

I was recently terminated for cause from a FE carrier. I am innocent of any wrongdoing (it was another agent who forged an application). I actually helped her call the company and report the fraud when she brought it to my attention, and the carrier terminated everyone involved. Does anyone have any experience in dealing with this type of thing?

I don't want an issue with my license or carrier appointments, although I haven't been worried about it because I haven't done anything wrong. The carrier just immediately terminated 6 agents when she sent in the complaint. Again I helped her call and file the complaint.

A couple of clichés come to mind. Such as "no good deed goes unturned" and "shooting the messenger". Or I'm thinking they may have been seeing a pattern of shadiness from this crew. They're cuttin' bait.

Are you saying that "the carrier" terminated the whole Downline and that it was your upline who committed the fraud? Or was it one of your downline agents that did the forgery? When you say the "agent forged", are you saying that he forged all the signatures on the application?

Come on dude, give us more specifics please!

I only ask because there is no way that the agent that committed the forgery isn't in association with you or the agency you're under. These things happen from time to time and this can be a good lesson for us all...

But we still need more specifics!

he is not in my downline or upline... he isn't associated with me or my agency, but we both have the same upline GA. Yes she stated all the signatures were forged. She was a client for 10 years of mine and trusted me with her health and life insurance....

I stood to profit nothing from their fraud and was in no way involved. when I was alerted to the fraud I had my assistant call and notified the carrier of what had happened and we have the name and date.

In the eyes of the carrier I guess they thought everyone needed to go down. No the entire downline wasn't terminated, just everyone the client had spoken to and no doubt referenced. One of my agents helped her cancel the policy fraudulently written and he rewrote her with another carrier because the one I had written her had already been surrendered and couldn't be reinstated. He was terminated as well as another of my subagents that was simply present for the application being written (the legit one).

Did they terminate everyone in the GA's downline?

I revised, see above. No not everyone was termed. I still have agents appointed but no doubt they will roll to my upline.

I am going to appeal this and have good documentation, but was curious how difficult it will be to continue doing business in the future? Has anyone had success getting carrier appointments with explained terminations for cause where they were not the party that commited any wrongdoing? I dont' want my insurance license to be affected either, had it for 20 years.

A time line of events would be helpful. However, I think the carrier may suspect that your group is rolling your book of business between a group of agents.

Sounds like the rewrite is what may have done you in.. If they terminated for cause, they are required to put the "cause" in the termination letter.. What reason did they give?

The good news is unless they report ot to the DOI, it shouldn't give you a lot of problem in the future.. The bad news is they do not pay the vested renewals when termination is for cause.

I've never been terminated for cause, but I think every contract I've filled out asks if you have.

I assure you unless the fraud caused the carrier a loss there not reporting you to the doi?
