Disabled client who's been on MAPD (for more than a year so no Trial Right) turned 65 on ~11/15/20. I reached out to review his expanded OE options but they kept putting it off. They're now wanting to switch to a Plan G before his OE expires and enroll in Part D. What is the proper enrollment period\code for D? Thanks!

IEP2

Initial Enrollment Period 2 (IEP2)
Another enrollment period that is also 7-months is the Initial Enrollment Period 2. The IEP2 is for people who were already eligible for Part A and B before they turned 65.

During the IEP2, you can sign up for a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan. The IEP2 runs for the same seven-month period as the IEP.

Thanks DS4 & TwoCents! The IEP2 ship has sailed which is what I thought. Any suggestions? Obviously, Med Supp doesn't work with MAPD so any suggestions on making this maneuver? Thanks again!

Found a valid option. SEP-DST is a statewide EPC and his IEP2 was valid during the affected period. Thanks again to those who replied!

Sure, the IEP2 was valid while DST was available, but can you honestly say that the IEP2 was missed due to the incident (COVID, wild fire, hurricane) or just ignorance?
