Using Non-licensed Speaker

Powder

Expert
I know someone who is an excellent public speaker that has the knack to gain trust quickly. Currently he is not a licensed agent.

If I were to start putting on seminars would I be able to use him to do the public speaking portion? I would answer all the follow up questions and handle all the meetings. He would only be used to give the slide show presentation.

Is this legal?

Depends on the state, what products, and what the content of the presentation is. You should probably just have the person get licensed.

Legal or not, it's foolish. Doing the speaking is what establishes your credibility with the audience as an expert on the subject matter. It's the most critical part, so don't abdicate it.

Are you scared to speak? Why not have him train you to speak, rather than use him.. people would immediately want to speak to him instead of you because you're giving him all the credibility.

There also is no great nack for public speaking, it is 100% about your ability to connect with the audience and appear knowledgeable, comfortable, and trustworthy. If you think he is better than you, it is probably because you appear nervous when you speak.

I agree that YOU need to do the speaking.
I hate speaking in front of groups but it does pay off.
If you want to use your friend he could be upbthere with you and speak about a "need" and paint of picture of what can happen. Then you speak about the solution and be the expert. He would help keep it from being boring and monotone if that is your fear.
But YOU need to be the expert.

Absolutely SPOT ON!

The most important part of selling insurance is selling yourself. As you already know and have pointed out, this is a business of knowing how to communicate with people.

BLAH! I cringe every time I hear mention of Toastmasters! We were made by our teacher in 5th grade to participate in Toastmasters. Once a week her "person" would come to our class room. For a 5th grader, it was def. something that made our eyes glaze over! lol
