WellCare PDP market share

I'll be more curious to see if it's profitable. I enrolled some in their PDP. I also moved some away from their PDP.

More importantly, I didn't write a single MAPD with them and I moved some of my WC MAPD clients away.
Them losing members on the MAPD side would be a great thing.

WC probably loses $$ on PDP business per se but makes it up by rolling folks into their MAPD.

That is easy pickings for them especially when using a tortured sales pitch. Add in the number of folks who self enroll + agents that don't stay in touch with their policyholders and churning PDP into MAPD is an easy sale.

Yep. I just hope a majority of agents feel that way. It wouldn't have been as bad had they not eliminated renewals for prior enrollments. I wouldn't have liked it, but at least I would have been paid for the 250-300 WC PDP's I have on the books.

If a "business partner" starts taking money away from me, I no longer consider them a business partner.

This is my feelings. I never would have enrolled a client in a Wellcare MAPD plan before this fiasco and I certainly will not now...I don't care if they obtain a 5 star rating. Not gonna do it

Their PDP business has never been stronger according to their latest earnings call. They said the PDP business is intentionally targeting a 1% margin this year in order to take and keep share.

Again, let's see those numbers at the end of the year. Would also love to know the dollar amount carriers are getting to keep their PDP plans attractive.
