I'm j/w what you guys get for commissions on term insurance. I know many of you sell for several different companies, but, on average, what do you see for it?

Anywhere from 85-115%.

Hmmm, thought so. I don't write much term (been writing bigger stuff).

I wrote about 1700 AP of term this week, and looked closely at the rate on it. While I'm working on my contract validation, I only get 28% on term. After validation, (when I get a bonus on it too), it ends up being somewhere a little less than 50%.:no: So basically, if I go write a 20/mo term policy on someone while still in my validation period, I only get $67 commission credit towards it. :skeptical:

With that said, I do get decent support at the office, so I suppose it balances out.

Hell, while I'm asking.... what do you get on a whole or universal life?

85 to 110% is normal on term, any less and there are too many hands in the cookie jar.

Damn, I guess there are really lower commissions when your captive.

What are you guys getting for whole and universal life?

I think I get around 90% but I only do a couple a year. A few % either way doesn't bother me.

However, I am always looking for a higher contract on plans I do write, like Medicare Supplements.

That being said, the product that is right for the consumer is more important to me that getting the last dime of commission.
