I am interested in hearing what are some of the better P&C companies to work for. I know there are alot of opinions out there but I dont know much about this side of the industry and I am looking for some insight. Thanks
I currently work as a captive agent for a P&C company. I do, however, sell Health and Life through different companies when it benefits the clients. The hardest part to being able to do this was getting the E&O insurance to get appointed with these other companies. They want to see that you have worked in the industry for so long and what your credentials are and so forth. Without the E&O insurance though, good luck in getting appointed with other companies. Also, I started the industry with Bankers Life and Casualty, stay away. I have also worked with Farmers Insurance. Farmers actually wanted me start paying $600 rent/ month to work in their office. When I told them I would just work from my home office, they told me this wouldn't be acceptable. Hope this helps.
I have always heard good things about being an independent but I also hear that it takes more capital doind it that way. With only 3 yrs experience in life and investments and no p&c experience I think starting with a company is a better idea.
