What to look for in a MAPD plan with cancer?

Right on. Haven't looked close yet but I guess they pay out for any invasive cancer ... not skin squamous or basil cell ..?
The ones my 2 work places had only paid to the provider one's deductible and copays (including meds) up to the limit purchased. They paid for any cancer diagnosis except non-melanoma skin cancers unless they required more than just being cut off (eg required chemo, or other treatment besides removal) and one of the two didn't pay for in-situ cancers (what stage 0 breast cancer is considered even though most people are advised to remove that and that is expensive, go figure).

The ones my work places offered also didn't cover complications from cancer treatment, for example, diabetes that you often end up with when you have pancreatic cancer surgery, or if you ended up up getting shingles during chemo (which I did), or get an infection due to being immunocompromised due to chemo and end up hospitalized, etc.

You might want to look into what the indemnity plans don't cover beyond the skin cancer issue.
