Where to Find a Good Telemarketer ?

Re: Where to Find a Good TM ?

...that you have to constantly bonus TMs is a myth. You need to pay and treat them well - make their job as easy as you can, 'cause it's a sucky job (or we'd be doing it.)

I try my best to scrub my lists to get rid of hitting gatekeepers. And even if you buy the best lists on the market, it still has stuff like local government agencies, banks, etc...I get rid off all that stuff for them.

Re: Where to Find a Good TM ?

I hired a Yankee native to New York to set appointments with folks from Small Town Georgia and Alabama.

Although skeptical at first (because he's a male and sounds like a New Yorker), he's a bulldog and gets me in the door way better than I imagined he would.

What I think is most important is having someone who speaks CLEARLY. That makes the biggest differences. No foreigners calling my Old Folks.

Had some Filipinos cold call for me, and that sucked the big one.

....and if you pay the bonus then the commission charges back? Money out the window.

I only hire telemarketers in the state where I want the calls made. Subtleties matter. I'm in SC and there's a distinct accent down here, so I hired SC telemarketers. It does in fact work better based on my tracking.

I'll agree, but I've also got plenty of deals, both with my current biz and when I was an agent, when the TM started shooting the **** about the local area.

But let's be clear, a good out of state marketer is going to be better than a bad local one. My position is a good local marketer beats a good out of state one.

Re: Where to Find a Good TM ?

Well, my center now has 14 TM's. 2-3 are hourly plus bonus's. The rest are all straight commission.

I am weeding out the hourly. We've been using them for a few months and they are never close to the level of my commission based.

We are based in Columbus, OH. I have ppl from all walks of life in our center. We call all over the US.

This week alone we are calling in MA, RI, NJ, OH, CA, TX, NV, FL, SC & GA. None of the have any issues at all where they call because of accent. The only state we will NOT call in is MO. For what ever reason it just sucks.

As for the other comments about bonus's for sales etc... I have no clue what I'm talking about so why bother responding. Most of the "professionals" on here know so much more so I will just sit back and take notes.

BTW...love our dialer program and can get any list for anyone for anything pretty cheap. FYI.

Re: Where to Find a Good TM ?

I don't think anyone's saying your system doesn't work for you - girls being licensed aside.

But for a new agent reading these posts, it's a bit of a rough road to hire someone only on commission. If their sales skills are low or they're in the learning curve, how do you tell a marketer they've earned "nothing" if sales didn't close.

They also need to be aware that even on 1099 status, they must at least earn minimum wage.

That's how I started it though? We were running the dialer ourselves and started realizing we were developing more then selling. So I just started throwing ads out there and doing interviews. I told them what we paid for every lead developed and one by one...we started filling seats. Yes...I talked to A LOT of people. But the one's hired were pretty good and now we have some vets with us.

They sign contracts that are one page just explaining 1099 and taxes etc... My attorney did it. They also pay a lease fee every month. Other than that it was just a matter of tweaking our sales script.

We give them 30-40 mins of training when they start. Get them on the phone. Then do daily training there on. I actually prefer those with very little call center experience.

Re: Where to Find a Good TM ?

All I'm saying, is to that pay 100% commission, I'd suggest an agent have a very solid track record in whatever line they're selling.

If not, they risk getting solid leads, not being able to close any of them (due to poor skills, lack of training, etc...) and left to tell the TM they're not getting any commissions.

Re: Where to Find a Good TM ?

I've used craigslist before, and believe it or not, been very successful in finding quality individuals.

Re: Where to Find a Good TM ?

If you pay by the appointment your going to get screwed it's basic stuff, if you offer someone money for each lead they don't care about quality it's all about quantity. So you WILL screw yourself.
