Who created Insurance forums?

I talked about the insurance forums origin story a little more on this podcast [EXTERNAL LINK] - Podcast: Sam Melamed's Journey Through Insurance Innovation

Some of you old times may remember the Rick and Al days!
Al is the one that had a VERY heated ongoing argument with me that people over age 60 HATE the word "senior". He claimed that they take it as a very derogatory insult and anyone that uses it to market to them would be out of business quickly.

In hindsight, it seems the whole industry has embraced the word and the only one that dropped out of business was Al.

I miss Al. He was a quirky guy but his strong (usually incorrect) opinions were fun.

He did a direct mail drop through me once. But when the responses came in, he didn't call the leads. He wrote them another letter telling them what a nice guy he was unlike all the other agents out there and they should call him when they are ready.

He was VERY crushed and surprised when not a single one called him from that. But he refused to call the leads. That was what the bad agents do and he was determined to be different.
