Your grandmother must have another MA plan that was placed in force after 1/1/08. CMS has no way of knowing if she has a Med Supp and/or if she cancelled it.OK, Maybe some wise MA specialists can help me out with this.
Yes, I wrote my 92 year old Grandma Todays Options MAPD on or around 3/27/08 with a 4/1/08 effective date. Verification call was completed, looked like smooth sailing. Last week I find out Pyramid canceled grandma's policy (we only found out when we called looking for ID cards on 4/28) I called Universal American Broker help line. They said reason was the CMS said not eligible because other coverage in force. Now, I know, she knows, everyone knows, you can't have 2 plans in force so Grandma didn't pay 4/08 premium to Anthem.
Should I have had her cancel Anthem on 4/1/08 rather then lapse it?
Universal says get letter of no coverage from Anthem and they will see about about reinstating. We called Anthem, they said a fax takes 5 days. (I guess there fax doesn't work like mine does.)
Is this common? What should I have done? Think Today's Options will reinstate?
