Aetna Billing Issues

Aetna offered maternity in MD and didn't rider pre-ex so it was tough not to write 'em when they were competitive here.

Their broker service could be better, but they are competitive in certain niches. I have not had them fail to bill and terminate anyone... yet.

They are competitive in CA, have "easier" UW and for the most part the agent support I've received has been fine. They pay my commish on time and so far I've not had any complaints from any clients about paying claims and I know one of them just had a total knee a few months ago.
I didn't write them for over a year because of their crappy commish schedule here.
I've started to write them again because of their liberal UW for certain issues... such as high hcl and bp combo (Vitorin, etc.)
My bet is that they will buy/merge Health Net next year if there is still going to be a market for IFP.

You're lucky you didn't get shot at, you could be in trouble on either side of the line in that area. Better stay in the city where it's safe and the liquor is store bought.

I also like that Aetna does not automatically rate up for smokers. They are competitive in that niche as well.
Hate to break the bad news to you, but as of Sept 1st 2008, they auto rate up tobacco 25%.
My understanding from them is that it was a hard fought battle and the co. was divided on the issue, but the bad guys won.
