Avoid Getting "PORCHED"!!!!!!

Dear Wino Sir,
Are we talking about the same thing? I don't think so. This Gentleman is setting appointments cold calling there is a big difference.
Why would you object to some one listening to you on the phone? Are you shy? Are you lying? Do you have secrets you cannot divulge?

Why would I do it? I help anyone that ask. I have been asked a few time here for some bit of help. And I offer what I can. But I have no reason to do three way client calls. Or have anyone shadow me.
Am I lying??? Yeah, that is how I fool them into buying more from me over the years and to refer me to the their family and friends.
Secrets? That is a good question. I have been asked a few times how I do my business. I am sure you are ask as well. I have asked a lot of agents on here how they do what they do. I do not think anyone has either a secret method or even a new method. So no. no secrets.

I assume that you are saying that you are happy to have any new agents in your state shadow you. Props.

Edit:You know, I may have taken the "bullsh!t" to personal and come back to hard.

Yeah I'm just sick of all the selfish BullS*it!!! I don't have a problem with helping someone out, as long as they are cool and respectful I will help them out. If they want to shadow me fine or if they want to watch me work the phone its no problem for me.

Someone taught you, right????

Or did they???

Please help! How do you guys avoid getting porched? This happens to me at least 3 or 4 times a week and with gas at $3.00+ a gallon - it really cuts in to your bottom line.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!

peace, This business can be a bear. No shows are bad enough, add trying to pay the bills, it can be very discouraging. Most of us have been there.

If you would like to talk sometime, Email me a number. The way I do my thing is not the norm but I am happy to share.
<I am not a recruiter or offer any contracts.>

When I get porched I always try and swing by and the end of my day, I hate doing it BUT if they are home and let me in it usually is a good appointment.
Some people do it it to blow you off, some are busy and some are in LaLa land but it doesn't matter, if you put the extra effort in by stopping by later that day it will pay off.

Some people don't take salesmen serious, some agents set appointment and never call or show up and its those situations that make people not care if they honor the appt or not.

Show them you are a professional and they will treat you like one.

I'm with wino on this. I would also say no to being "shadowed".

I do help agents all the time when asked. many on this board. I answer pm's. I answer emails and I have had a few phone conversations with agents asking for pointers.

I also do some training calls for EFES when asked. That's the extent, however. I do not recruit or I would take an active role in training my agents.

I wouldn't want someone tagging along with me on appointments. I wouldn't want someone sitting with me while I schedule appointments. Nothing to hide as I don't have any secret anyway.

It just would not be comfortable for me and I am not going to work in an uncomfortable manner.

As for the topic of the thread, everybody will get porched from time to time. I set my appointments and it doesn't happen to me very often, but, it just does sometimes. That's just part of this business.

On the shadowing: I had the reverse happen recently. I had a manager who was supposed to shadow me as part of his job, I took him out there on the debit, scared the heck out of him!! He never will work with me again. The reverse anti-shadow!! ha ha

You mean your debit mgr. never ran a debit as an agent before he was promoted to mgr.?

No. It was when I went to an ordinary company, I had quit the debit company and gone to an ordinary company. And yes, he had never been in the bad parts of town. He mainly sold mortgage protection before he was promoted. But he wanted appointments and clients and people to see. I had 250 or so names- but you know where those people lived.... you got it, the debit. He wanted a project 100, I put 100 of those names in there. We started seeing the people, one by one, he was getting nervous, towards evening time he refused to get out of the car!! ha ha It got me fired ultimately, because my district manager told me to quit seeing those folks- and to quit taking this new mgr out there!! I told him that was my market, he did not like it, told me to hit the road. Oh well.

That is funny! Reminds me of when I started, I was asked to help train some new recruits.

They gave this somewhat pretty blond college boy the East Oakland area. This kid thought MC Hammer was Gangsta.
After the first night he did not want to go into a house so I left him in the car. I came back and found him hiding in the back seat. After that we would act like we were going out on appointments, but I would just drop him off and ran them alone. I wrote a lot of business on that guys book. Same with the Richmond book. I still have some of those families.
